This album followed Fijación Oral, Vol.1 6 months after in 2005. Although Shakira several times mentioned that there will not be translated songs from the previous record, this album does have 2 translations (The Day And The Time for Día Especial and Something for En Tus Pupilas). The album is more oriented to social messages and contains several songs with rather straightforward lyrics addressing various topics as peace/war, religion and social injustice. Thus, How Do You Do was banned in several Middle East countries for explicit lyrics, so was the original cover art. Instead, for those countries the album was released with the album cover depicting Shakira covered heavily with the tree leaves, hiding undressed parts of her body. Promotion for this album was moderate; Shakira visited some TV shows in the USA, UK and Germany. Lead single of the album, Don't Bother, was successful and brought Shakira to chart tops in Europe and Asia. However, the album sales were not so high as it was expected. The album was re-released in 2006 and updated with the smashing duet with Wyclef Jean (Hips Don't Lie). Only 2 songs from the original tracklist became singles, besides Don't Bother, Sony BMG elected Illegal that released long after the booming success of Hips Don't Lie in the fall 2006.
